South Florida Educational Credit Union
– National Academy Foundation (NAF) Career Academy Students participated in National Groundhog Shadow Day Shadow Activities at the South Florida Educational Credit Union. This activity supports student learning taking place beyond the four walls of a classroom and provides students with the opportunity to see the connection between academics and the demands of the workforce. This is part of the district’s partnership and involvement in the One Community One Goal Targeted Industry Implementation Plan to encourage business engagement in education and build students’ career readiness.
The students who participated in this field experience are enrolled in the Academy of Finance (AOF) program and are preparing for their financial internship this summer under the direction of Ms. Michelle Bolt, Lead Teacher. The day’s activities included a welcome by the company’s CEO, Michael DiBenedetto, Department Introductions, Human Resources Testing, and an Interview Bootcamp session.
According to academy junior, Michael Germi, listening to the company’s CEO had the biggest impact on him. “What I gained most from this are the tips on how to be a better employee, the importance of respect for others and how essential making connections are for being successful in the business world”.
Students in the academy are members of National Academy of Finance (NAF), a national network of career academies, which support the development of America’s youth toward personal and professional success in high school, higher education and throughout their careers.
